RURAL WOMEN AT THE CENTER OF FOOD SYSTEMS.
The International Day for Rural Women is celebrated every year on October 15 and it shines a light on rural women who face challenges such as limited access to land, limited access to finances, low understanding and use of technology and little participation in decision making. Despite all these they remain strong agents of change and development in the agricultural sector. This theme this year;Rural Women Cultivating Good Food for All" places women at the center of food systems all around the world.
The Centre for Human Rights and Democracy recognises the invaluable contributions of rural women in agriculture, improving food security, promoting environmental conservation as well as rural development. This plays a significant role in eradicating rural poverty.
The Centre also believes in empowering rural women through rights education, advocacy and community engagement. Together let us invest in rural women's empowerment, promote sustainabl development and build resilient communities as we celebrate rural women today.
