CHRDA JOINS WAKA -WAKA -4- PEACE

The Centre for Human Rights and Democracy has taken part in a Peace Walk dubbed "WAKA-WAKA-4-PEACE" in Buea,South West Region organised by the National Convention for Peace in Cameroon. This activity was purposed for celebrating the Pan-African Women's Day under the theme, "Advancing Social and Economic Justice for African Women Reparations. This march took place in all 10 regions of Cameroon simultaneously with civil society organisations joining their voices to support the cause of the African woman. This day is an annual reflection in the concrete historical moment when African women declared their collective agency and refused to accept marginalisation in the struggle for freedom.

WAKA-WAKA-4-PEACE comes at a very crucial time when peace is needed to uplift social and political tensions through women's engagement in the Peace Security and Development Agenda. The march also marked the 4th anniversary of the Cameroon Peace Convention which CHRDA has been a member o for 4 years (since inception)

The march reiterates the power of collaboration and solidarity in achieving political freedom for Africa. It recognises and affirms the role of women in achieving the political freedom of Africa and advancing the social and economic status on the continent.
