INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL- CHILD GIRLS LEADING CHANGE

The Centre for Human Rights and Democracy today October 11 joins the global community to celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child. Thid year's theme "The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls in the Frontlines of Crises" shines a light on the courage, resilience and leadership of girls who rise and inspire change in the face of adversity. This day celebrates the power, potential and rights of girls all around the world and it also raises awarenes on the challenges they face. These range from conflcit and displacement to climate change, discrimination and digital inequality, their voices going unheard, actins ignored and rights pushed aside.

We see the girl not just as a victim of crises but as an active agent of change who leads her communty towards peace and innovation. Through our programs on education, human rights advocacy, protection from gender based violence and digital stafety,we remain committed to advancing the rights and potential of every girl. This is to ensure that girls are not left behind in ant developmental endeavor and even in times of crises.

Let us stand together with girls on the frontlines, listen to them, amplify their voices, celebrate their achievement and investment in leadership. Change begins when every girl is educated, free and empowered to lead. Every girl, everywhere deserves equality, opportunity and dignity.
