CHRDA HOLDS CITY WIDE SYMPOSIUM ON BRIDGING DIVIDE,STRENGTHENING,SOCIAL COHESION THROUGH CULTURE AND DIALOGUE

Today the 22 of August 2025, the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa successfully organized a symposium at the Arts and Cultural Centre Buea, with the theme "Bridging Divide, Strengthening Social Cohesion Through Culture and Dialogue". This event brought together diverse voices and perspectives from across Fako Division in the Soth West Region to delve into topical issues around social cohesion. It had as participants youth, civil society organizations, religious and traditional Leaders.

Aimed at building peace, preserving culture, and strengthening community resilience, the event featured key notes from the president of the Centre for Human Rights and Democracy in Africa Barrister  Agbor Nkongho as well as presentations from Mr. Mbuwul Godwil, Mr. Kang Primus, Dr. Naseri, Rev. Fr. Joseph Ngomeh, and Dr. Lesley Ngwa who Shared insights on topics like:

- Understanding social tensions in Buea, root causes and the way forward.

-The role of religion, traditional authority and local institutions in peace building.

Youth identity and cultural expression in conflict-affected communities.

Participants were encouraged to cultivate a culture of shared responsibility, refrain from having a free rider mindset, make policies around the common good, indicating the fact that future of Buea and Cameroon lies on the ability to turn dialogue into action, culture into unity and diversity into strength.
